Brazil Exports At Lowest Level Over 5 Years
REUTERS FROM São Paulo Brazil, Brazilian coffee exporters association announced December Brazil export figures were low at 2.9 million bags, down 10% over the same period last year.
The slower sales of Arabica products decreased by 12.7% to 2.5 million bags of Arabica in December. Even the lowest export volume of Robusta was 45,720 bags (60 kg each), compared to the same month last year. 12,016 bags of 11,037 bags, down more than 55%.
Exports of Brazilian ground-breaking roasted coffee rose 2.4% in December to 357,967 bags. Brazilian export data were the lowest in the last five years.
Brazilian Cecafe Exporters Association reported total Brazilian 2017 exports from January to December at 27.31 million bags, down 10% from 2016. Because of the lower yield and slower sales Farmers, making exports the lowest since 2012.
Some trade union members expect 2018 exports to move further as output increases. However, exports only recovered in June when the new crop started and the stock was released from inventory.
